One of Giotto's frescoes from his series on the life and passion of Jesus, in the Arena Chapel in Padua.

The comet in the sky is probably Halley's Comet. Giotto may have seen it when it passed Earth in 1301.

Giotto later also painted the Adoration on a wooden panel (c. 1320).
