After the destruction of Sodom, Lot's daughters were convinced they were the only survivors. So how to get children with no men around but their own father?

They give their father so much wine that he gets drunk. That way he did not notice that he conceived sons with them.

The eldest daughter gave birth to Moab, who would become father of the Moabites. The youngest one conceived Ben-Ammi, father of the Ammonites.

It is unknown exactly when Bellucci made this painting. This page previously showed a different work by Bellucci on the same subject. That canvas is also in a private collection.
