Jehoshaphat (or Josaphat) was the fourth king of Judah. He made an alliance with king Ahab of Israel. Together they fought against the Syrian king Benhadad in the battle of Ramoth-Gilead. Ahab was killed.

Here Jehoshaphat returns to Jerusalem, in the company of his soldiers. Besides his carriage is a group of prisoners.

Upon returning home he was met by the prophet Jehu. Jehu chided Jehoshaphat for cooperating with Achab: the king of Israel had allowed for the worshipping of Baal in his empire, making him an improper partner. Jehoshaphat was pardoned because he was a pious man and had done good deeds.

This is page 194 of a French manuscript of Flavius Josephus' Antiquities of the Jews which was illuminated by Jean Fouquet.
