This is one of five statues Donatello made for the bell tower of the Florence cathedral, the Duomo. It is now in the cathedral's museum.

Some say this statue lacks the vertical folds Donatello preferred, so this statue could have been made by someone else.

On the scroll are the letters GEMIA, a shortened version of the prophet's name in Italian: Geremia.
