The Queen of Sheba had heard of King Solomon's legendary wisdom and wanted to see for herself. She travelled from Sheba (probably present-day Yemen) to the king's court in Jerusalem. There she tested him with a series of tough questions, which he replied to in an impressively calm manner - and correctly. Here the queen humbly kneels before the king. Her servants carry expensive plates and other gifts in vessels. The panel is part of the Leiden Collection. |
