Willem Andriesz. de Raet

16e eeuw

South-Netherlandish tapestry weaver. De Raet came to Leiden from Brussels in 1540, where he opened a workshop for the manufacture of high quality tapestry and cushions, the designs of which were often made by leading artists. As far as we know only 3 tapestries survive – two may be found in the Amsterdam Rijksmuseum and one in the Lakenhal in Leiden.
