Bedford Master

ca. 1380 - 1440

Artist active in Paris in the first half of the fifteenth century. May have been a group of artists working together in a workshop. Is seen as the maker of most of the illuminations in the Bedford book of hours (hence the name), and of the Salisbury Breviary, which was made for the duke of Bedford mostly around 1430.
