An early work by Lippi, strongly influenced by Botticelli. In the background, far away, several saints, to the left, Tobias and the archangel Raphael at the well. To the left of them St Jerome kneels in penitence before a cross. A beam of starlight falls on Mary's head. Lippi made another Adoration of the Magi in 1496. |
