Francisco Goya biography

This work is linked to Mark 14:72

The cock has crowed twice. Peter realizes he has denied Jesus three times, just like his captured master had predicted.

Peter is shown praying with his most common attribute, the keys.

Goya probably made this painting shortly before he left Spain. It is not known who commissioned it.
