Tobit and Anna waiting for the return of their son

While their son Tobit is traveling, Tobias and Anna sit at home waiting. Anna is working with a spinning wheel, Tobias sits near the fireplace. As the days pass, they become worried. Tobias is concerned mostly about his business interests. Anna thinks something may have happened to Tobit and that they will never see him again.

For some time this work was attributed to Barend Fabritius, one of Rembrandt's followers. But in 2010 research showed it is a Rembrandt after all.
