The prophet Zechariah had a series of visions in which he saw the coming of the kingdom of a Messiah. Here he sees four chariots appearing from the mountains. One is drawn by red horses, another by white, the third by black and the fourth by "grisled and bay" horses: speckled, strong horses.

This is one of the many engravings Doré made for his illustrated Bible.
