The book of the Revelation of John introduces the New Jerusalem as the final home of the Christian community and of the faithful of the Old Testament. The city measured more than 2200 × 2200 km (1375 × 1375 miles) and was built around the temple. It had already been mentioned by the prophet Ezekiel in the final chapter of his book.
