(Jan van Vlaanderen). Originally from the Low Lands, Juan works as a painter at the Court of Queen Isabella of Spain. Under her authority he designs a series of possibly 48 panels depicting the life of Christ. After the death of Isabella (1504), he works in the churches of Palencia and Salamanca. Typical of his work are its realism and the bright, sometimes cool atmosphere.
