Cosimo Rosselli

1439 - 1507

portrait of Cosimo Rosselli Florentine renaissance painter. From 1459 on he worked for himself. Among his first works were fresco's in the Fiesole cathedral.

His best known works are probably the fresco's he made in the Sistine Chapel (1480-). In Rome he probably was assisted by his student and son-in-law Piero di Cosimo.

The portrait (1481) is thought to be a self-portrait, because the face also appears in the fresco with the Sermon on the Mount.
